Now, more than ever before, we all need to support one another. We’re all in this together and to overcome this, we must unite for a brighter future.
As someone who is always looking for a way to make a contribution in the world, being stuck at home was initially hard for me as I didn’t see how I could make an impact from afar. However, I soon realized that there are in fact many ways we can continue to do good deeds in the world from our homes.
And so, here are 5 ways you can give back during quarantine:
1. Call a loved one
Having limited social connections can be very hard, especially for people that are living alone or are away from family. That is why it’s so important to keep communication with your friends and loved ones.
Don’t forget to call your family and friends and express all your love and gratitude for them. If this virus has taught us anything, it is that nothing is guaranteed. So make the most of every moment – tell those close to you that you love them, express everything that you haven’t expressed, and show gratitude for all those who you are grateful for.
2. Make food for the homeless
There are many people who don’t have the opportunity to quarantine within a home nor do they have access to food. So during this time of need, lend a helping hand to those who need your support and love. Making food for the homeless is something easy you can do from the comfort of your home and then deliver to the closest food-bank near you.
3. Create your own face masks
There has been an increasing trend of people creating their own protective face masks in the most creative ways! Many people have even begun to donate the face masks they made to people in need of them. These acts of kindness are inspiring and are creating a movement of kindness and solidarity. Plus, making the face masks is an easy and fun activity to do!
4. Get an elderly person their groceries
Because the elderly are more susceptible to the virus, many elderly people are afraid to leave their homes to go to the grocery store. Which is why you can help by offering to get groceries for your elderly neighbors and loved ones.
5. Advocate for a cause online
One of the best and easiest ways you can make a difference is by becoming an advocate for a cause you are passionate about online! I myself am a refugee advocate and have continued to advocate for the safety and acceptance of refugees even while in quarantine. Use your voice to make a positive change in the world!
“We rise by lifting others”
You can be the change you wish to see in the world even from your own home. And remember, you still have the power to use your voice for good! Speak up, stand up, and rise up for what you believe in!
